The roof rafters of this new home has very little bearing at the valley beam. Should I be concerned about future problems? What type of repair would be required?

Technically bearing would not be the correct word in this case, but I see what you mean. I'm curious as to what the other side looks like. That is a problem. The rafters should not extend above the valley rafter. More important, it appears that there are very few nails attaching the rafters to the valley rafter. Is there something I am not seeing?

The rafters may very well separate from the valley rafter, resulting in a partial collapse of the roof.

The other side of the beam is OK. There are about 5-7 nails attaching the rafters to the beam, where they are in contact.

Good catch. It is unacceptable from what we can see of it.
