Well, I have been listed on ActiveRain.com for about a year now and I must say that it has been well worth my effort. Today I just completed my 17 inspection that came as a result of my AR listing and being active on the network. Several have been from RE agents, a few from insurance agents and a few from consumers who found my own website from the AR listing.
The key is that you need to be active and develop a good "Home Page". It even pulls your own site up in the Internet search rankings. The best part of being listed on AR is that it is 100% free.
If you want to find out more or set up your own page use this link ActiveRain Real Estate Network (http://activerain.com/action/referrals/scottpat)

Thanks for the tip Scott. I have never seen active rain.
Have you ever tried advertising on Craigs List?

Scott,
How is the lead generation of ActiveRain compare to that of ASHI.org?

I have also been impressed with active rain results. Just your active rain page can generate a web search hit. Like Scott siad, those that work it will have better results.

It's got some neat people and stuff on it.
Like anything else you only get out of it what you put into it.
Of course, it's also pyramid based. Whoever's invitation or referral you sign up under gets points for your activity.
So help Scott, sign up under his referral and move him up higher in Tennessee.

So, about 5, maybe 6 years ago I inspect a place for this young, kind of car-salesman-ish kid.
He's just started out in real estate and thinks he's gonna take over the world. Says he's busy and "I'm working on some stuff that's gonna change the face of real estate!"
"A dime a dozen" I think to myself. I see him and many others all the time pitching the same stuff.
I hear from him one or two more times, then he disappears.
Turns out, he's the guy (with one of his buddies) that started the Active Rain site.

It no wonder that the real estate market has gone down so, its because all of the agents are working on their "blogs" instead of out trying to produce some sales.
Who cares about points, lets make some money.

Scott,

I would say that you get more agents from AR. With the ASHI site I get the consumer who is looking for an inspector. Also as with all HI organization searches it depends on your area and how many members are in your area. The more members that pull up in your area the less referrals you get.

Not only the agents! Look at the home inspectors who post multiple new blogs every single day! After awhile they tend to wear themselves out and stop posting as much.
