My though is that if it's clamped on tight enough to withstand high winds, the point-force at the flue tile might predispose it to cracks.

We have hundreds of them. The clamps hold ok, but, the rest of it corrodes and disintegrates after a few years. Flashing doesn't have any glaring defects - the crown perimeter may allow water penetration to the chase.

The flashing appears to be a 2 piece saddle and appears to be in good shape. However I would be concerned with seal at brick line.
