Have you guys ever seen roof framing where half the roof is with truss rafters and the other half is not? Is this proper?

Yes.

Yes. But not that is not the best way to do it. Looks like someone changed their mind after the trusses were ordered as to how they wanted the roof, so they used conventional framing for the left side of it. The rafter sizes may no longer be sufficient for conventional framing, may be over-spanned. The purlin definitely looks over-spanned and is deflecting. Heck, some rafters are not even touching the purlin.

Jerry, are you infering that if you have a mix of conventional and truss rafters that the conventional rafters may be undersized in this instance?

Just the opposite.

I'm saying those rafters *might be* undersized being 2x4 rafters, whereas the same 2x4 top chord would not be because it would be engineered for the span (it would have diagonal and vertical webs in the truss).

That's some serious deflection in the "purlin brace". There is close to a 1" gap between the brace and the rafter (or truss top chord) at the near end. What is supporting the other end of this brace?

Were these factory-made or field fabricated trusses?
