Hey all, just bought a house in January. Went through the inspection with an inspector of *my* choosing, got the seller to fix a lot of crap... now starting to eye the home improvements. I've done a fair bit of minor electrical work (my grandfather was a civil mechanic/electrician for the Air Force, and major DIYer who took pride in his work) and feel reasonably comfortable working around wiring.
I know that "common sense" and "up to code" are somewhat of a Venn diagram, and I try to make sure my work lands in that overlapping bit. I've got a copy of NFPA 70 handy and regularly review it for the "interesting" bits (those that apply to the work I'm considering), but I figured engaging the internet hive mind for some clarifications might be helpful, so here I am!
Cheers,
Doc
