Log Homes in Maine

Hello I have found very little training over the years , for home owners about owning and maintaining a log home. I find I have a lot of inspections where the home owner had no clue on the care and upkeep of a log home and the wood would often soak up water like a sponge. other that our site http://maineloghomeprofessionalsassociation.com/ and nachi does anyone else know of any good resources?
