8' clearance from vertical walls so that doesn't cut it. It's more accurately a B-vent and not a chimney.

It's 8' from the sidewall, minimum, or 2' above the roof above.

It's also, as I recall, 10' from a building opening (windows, doors, soffit vents, etc.

Next time get the manufactures info off the appliance. you can look up the manual which gives you the clearances.

What type of appliance was that vent pipe serving? Some appliances allow significantly reduced clearances. Pellet stoves are among some that do.
