First time I've seen one of these. It was in the basement of a 70 year old stone colonial.

Bob, any info you can pass along about this?

Nick - Be reasonable. How old do you think Bob is?

Well then I better hold off on asking Bob for his take on the flint and steel furnace ignitor.

Ok, I know I'm just a flash in the pan ;-)

The little I'm familiar with, they are basically masonry fiurnaces with factory doors, chutes, etc. There is a roto-dump/ agitatoe lever on most much like you would use burning coal. The hardware provides a check valve apparatus so when burned, it separates the flue from the chute. It also has a cleanout door. The chimney is categorized as Low Heat Residential Category I just like a furnace or fireplace.

Nick, you and John need to learn to respect your elders. John may have a little more snow on the roof than me but I certainly feel older than him. ;-)
