Hi folks,
I'm new to the business and this site.
Could use some advice as to what equipment is recommended. There are a lot of choices out there and don't want to risk buying junk or over doing it either.
The items of interest at this point are: Moisture Meter, inspection scope, Carbon Monoxide Detector, Thermal imagers.
I'm sure there is a wealth of knowledge and advice from the experienced inspector and would appreciate some tips.

Thanks

Phil

Phil,

I've got a whole box of tools I thought I just had to have at the moment and now realize I don't use them as I thought I would.

I would suggest starting out with a great flashlight, electrical testers, carbon-monoxide and a moisture meter. Hold off on the thermal imager a while.

I was always told if you buy quality tools you only cry once, you buy cheap tools you'll cry every time you use them.

Best of luck.

Welcome Phil!

Try doing a search, including the archive of the previous incarnation of inspection news - you will find a plethora of opinion as to what is necessary. I overdid it when I got started. There are perfectly good inspectors, for instance, who do not own carbon monoxide testers, or scopes or thermal imagers of any kind. Heck, I don't even have an MRI machine!
