YES! Sharbite connectors into a copper line system needs a ground strapping...The connection is broken by the Sharkbite system and in fact the Sharkbite manual states this grounding as a requirement. Located on page 4 of their installation instructions in pdf format on their website. it states:

"SHARKBITE GROUNDING ON COPPER PIPE When connecting a SharkBite Universal fitting to a copper piping system, install a copper jumper cable to ensure proper grounding. SharkBite Universal fittings are not an electrically continuous fitting."

Yeps but ...

It didn't used to say that (that is a 2018 document).

It used to ... not say anything ... about bonding over the SharkBite fitting when installed on a metallic (copper) water piping system.
