View Full Version : One water heater but two expansion tanks

Inspected a 2003 TH. Water heater replaced in 2018 , and has an expansion tank mounted directly above it. Upon entering crawl space, I observed a second expansion tank. I speculate that the plumber that installed the new water heater did not realize that an expansion tank was already installed in crawlspace. The expansion tank in crawlspace is connected and appears to be in serviceable condition. Will two expansion tanks cause any problems? Thank You

Just my two cents...
I can see no issues with multiple expansion tannks other than increased maintenance when the need replacing.

You won't as such face an issue with an extra expansion tank. In fact, it could be an added advantage in the future.
