Slab crack in new construction

I noticed a concerning slab crack which runs across the entire width and depth of the slab. The crack runs across the entire slab and goes through a floor outlet and a plumbing line. The large slab crack was seen shortly after the slab was poured. What could be the cause of such a large slab crack?

Not enough information. There are a number of reasons that concrete will crack. Seeing a single pic of a slab with a crack is inadequate to provide anything useful to you.

The basic joke about concrete is "It gets hard and it cracks."

Best bet would be to contact the contractor and see what explanation he/she might be able to provide.
