Wind Mitigation

Didn't know where to put this but..... On what types of buildings can you receive wind mitigation discounts on? I have a 3124 sq ft medical office that I'd like to do one for the customer but only if the insurance companies accept commercial buildings. The building itself is a stand alone structure with gable roof and shingles. Its pretty much constructed the same as a typical home. Thanks, Mark

Uniform Mitigation Verification Form OIR B1-1802 is for Residential properties only.

For Personal Residential condominium unit owners or Commercial Residential there is a separate form MIT-BT II & III, for Type II (4 to 6 story) or Type III (7 or more story) building.
This form must be completed by:

General or building contractor
Building code inspector
Professional architect
Professional engineer

For Commercial Non-residential, there is:
Commercial Windstorm Protective Device Proof of Compliance (Form WPD-1C), which is shutters or opening protection only.
This form must be completed by:

General or building contractor,
Professional engineer,
Professional architect,
Building code inspector
