Cool Video

I'll stick to Home Inspecting.

Rick, where do you come up with these?! It made me nervous just watching it. I understand all of the theories that make it possible, but I think I'll stick to home inspecting too, just the top of my ladder is tall enough for me!

"Only three things that scare me... electricity, heights and women."

Holy cow!!!
What do you think would happen if a bumble bee were to fly into the cock-pit of that chopper when trying to be(e) real still next the wires.

Those folks are probably some of the best in the world at what they do...

I knew someone who used to do that.

That is how they work on those high tension lines.

He did that for 10 years, then retired from that to do consulting for those power companies and repair crews, then retired from that consulting after about another 10 years.

His stories were unbelievable, and I had never seen it in action before, but there it is.

Yep. I figure that'll be my next line of work.

Just as soon as I get my FRONTAL LOBOTOMY!

I'll bet you this guy doesn't stop and pick up one of those Big Gulps on the way to work in the morning.

Boy, among other things, he'd be screwed if the copter crashed and he was stuck up on the lines.

I didn't think you could cross two lines line that without exploding.

Tim, I think you will see those lines are very close together, so they would be parallel conductors which would have the same voltage and phase. If not then the lines would be arcing, etc. since those line use the air space for insulation. One of the other phases is in the background on the other side of the tower with the other guy crawling in the opposite direction.
Man that has to be murder on the hands, knees and shins. I hurt after just a few minutes in a tight attic or crawl space.

That ranks right up there (no pun intended) with the folks that change the light bulbs on the communication towers.

Another job I'll pass on. My understanding from some that have done that is the tower sways quite a bit when you way up there.

Remember the Coke a Cola commercial with the two guys up there taking a break? No thanks.
