quick disconnects

Has anyone seen this.

This is a fuse quick disconnect for the outside condenser. I've seen cover caps (plastic?) covering the brass caps, but I've never seen them melted. Is this from overheating and something to call out, or just having the quick disconnect on the south side of the home enough to melt them. The temperature was at 98 degrees during operation of the unit.

I have seen that as well. Don't know what causes it, but I believe the screws are directly connected to the fuse and therefore "live". Needs to be replaced. I agree, it would be nice to know why it happened.

Polypropylene's melt temperature starts at 375 f.

Do you have a picture of the inside?

no picture of the inside. I did pull the plug and the fuses on the inside appeared to be in good shape. No signs of overheating, burnt or discollord paper wrapping on fuse, nothing????

I did not touch the end of the screws to see if they were live.

Probably overheated due to poor connections.

The fuses in there now are likely not the same ones which were in there then.
