Just ran across this and thought that it might be of some interest.
This company offers up square foot construction costs for 25 major metro areas,

From $88.37 in Cleveland OH. to $457.00 in San Jose, Ca.

Wow .... I wonder what the economics are that create such a disparity in costs.

Labor and land value.

Not quite.. He was looking for prices of PT slabs and design costs.

It still amazes me that Square foot costs increase by $370 per Sf. from Cleveland to San Jose.

Thats an additional $370,000.00 for the same 1000 sf Bldg.

Location, location, location........................

These costs would not include land. It is for the building only.

I believe the differences are type of construction and finishes.
$200.00/sf for the Boston area is correct. The SQ.Ft. cost is for livable area, but NE Homes also have basements and garages. These are factored into the equation.
