Lightning Protection System quesion

While at a home performing an exterior inspection as part of an indoor air quality investigation, I noted this curious connection of the LPS.

The attached photo shows a part of the LPS bonded to the liquid line of the A/C system.

Would this be a typical set up?
Of the few LPS's I've observed I've never seen this connection.

Thoughts?

Man, that is way outside the scope of a normal home inspection. Unless you are very familiar with such a system I would not even offer an opinion on it. I would note that the home has it and that I don't know anyting about this and that they need to contact a person who is knowledgeable about lighting protection systems for any additional information.

I'm working as an EW right now on a case for the plaintiff in which their home inspector did not know anything about a system in/on their new home and described it as being in excellent condition when in fact it was improperly installed and in very poor condition!

While I agree that evaluating something like this is WAY outside of a normal home inspection, if you would have read my post I was NOT performing a "home inspection."

Having seen something during the course of a "non-home inspection" I took note of something I'm unfamiliar with. I made no mention of "reporting" it.

Wanting to learn something, I thought I'd post my observation here.

Anyone with info on LPS systems, your feedback is welcome.

I don't know about LPS but grounding the refrigerant line set, makes as much sense as grounding CSST. Both are metal tubeing running thru the attic! Sounds like a good idea to me.

Don't see that you're a member of the North Carolina Licensed Home Inspector Assocation (NCLHIA), but just two months ago we (the Charlotte Chapter) had a good speaker on the "bonding" of CSST. You might have considered changing your tune if you werre in attendance.

We have varying guest speakers from month-to-month (second Tuesday night ea. month) covering a variety of topics. That, and the continuiing ed. credit seminars put on by NCLHIA make it worth while joining (www.NCLHIA.com).

If you are all licensed why have the "Licensed" in your associations name?Does your association have anything to do with the actuall licensing?
