Small house slab floor. no visible cracks in the flooring. the lino. noted water like stains. but then we have had no rain for months in Calif.
do you think this looks like a bad lino job ? some glue marks. Or could it be a moisture condition from the slab flooring wicking up in places.

No cracks in the foundation or in the garage floor.

No moisture to the slab today.

You input please

No rick its holes in the lino from the wack jobs that took the refer, stove the AC unit. and just about everything they could. Its like open house in some areas of the north bay now. The post i had just last week about the cops at my inspection is like a everyday things now. I had a Lady real estate agent got punch out the other day from the lady that lost her home back to the bank. 2 of my 3 inspection today had the AC units ripped off. they just cut Electrical wires and conection and gone with the wind.

LOOK OUT. YA BUDDY.

Ron,

You forgot to post the infrared image of that floor, I know you looked at it with the infrared camera - no self-respecting thermographer would miss a chance with a floor looking like that. :)

Oh, Jerry that is so cruel.
I think the staining is from the top side. Maybe repeated cat piss or some other leak. Those cabinets look like the HD unfinished oak type that you install and then stain to taste ... maybe they spilled the can of stain?
I doubt it's coming up from the slab, just doesn't fit from what I see. Besides from your posts, I'd say your good enough to have found a slab/water problem if it was there.
Stop laughing Jerry.

The IR shows no visible cracks in the slab. My Camera is only a FLIR 160X120 its not going to show a 1/32" cracks in the floor with no moisture. We have had no rain for more then 60 plus day in Calif.

Ron,

Still no IR image to post? ;)

What was behind you when you took those photos?

The left stain 'looks like' water entered under the vinyl, possibly from a door behind you, and then dried out. Sheet vinyl has a paper-like backing which is subject to wetting, yet that wetness (moisture) will not go through the vinyl to the floor surface (which is why spilled water does not do the reverse and go down through the vinyl to the paper-like backing).

Moisture under the vinyl, either leaking in from an edge of coming up from below, will, when enough accumulates, 'run to the low spots', which is what that looks like.

Possible leak at the ice maker, if there was one.

Only 60 days without rain? That's nothing. Actually it just rained yesterday for the first time in a long while. Not enough to soak up the dust, but it was a nice change.

Jerry if you went back over this post you would not ask a question like that.

Ron,

I've just gone back through your posts above and I STILL cannot find an infrared image of that floor you posted.

You must be hiding it in plain sight, in which case would you be so kind as to direct my apparently failing eyes to it/them - thank you kindly.

Come on Jerry. dang. Dude. go back over it one more time. Everthing you need to known is in this post. You keep asking for something and the info you seek is in the post.

Ron,

Okay, I will try it again.

*I* am looking for something *not in* your posts.

Not quite sure how to explain that to you any more than I already have.

One more time, though.

You push the value of infrared cameras (and I agree to the validity of most of your pushes in that regard), and, as such, I *would have expected* you to have taken an infrared image of that floor.

Okay, so far so good?

Yes?

Excellent, now then, do you have that infrared image?

And, no, before you reply, you have not (not that I can find anyway) posted an infrared image of such.

If you cannot post an infrared photo because you did not take one, simply say so, then we can move on.

Jerry this is it. My camera was unable to find any cracks in this floor. if there is a crack its to small. and we have no moisture due to no rain.

I did not take an image of the floor as it was a wash.

P.S. This was fun.:D

Ron,

Not looking for cracks, looking to see what that large stain looked like in the infrared camera.

Being as that is not available ... :(

Billy said: "Evidence of a Previous Water Event."

I asked: "What was behind you when you took those photos?"

And followed with: "The left stain 'looks like' water entered under the vinyl, possibly from a door behind you, and then dried out."

No answer from you on that question or my comment.

Jerry there is no door behind me or in the adjacent areas that any water could enter under the lino. just to my R. of the photo was a sliding glass door. no stains in this area. if you can blow up these photos you can see the what ever it was did flow with areas of the paterns in the lino...

Sometime we play ball with an old bat and an old ball.

I put in my report to have a licensed flooring company strip the flooring and expose the concrete for further inspection...

Jerry I think you and I and Billy are on the same page.

But Rick needs to open the door the dog need to go out NOW!

Respect

Not to start an argument ( I don't know about where you are located ) but were I am from, flooring companies are not licensed. I once wore the hat of a flooring installer and we just pulled up the old and threw down the new. If there were any cracks in the slab it got filled full of leveling compound.

The good old days Jon... As a state Licensed inspector its always been my thing to refer to other State Lic.

In calif Flooring Co. have a lic. board.

If a flooring company just patch something like a small crack in a floor and put the lino over it and a stain then came up. that flooring company would have a problem...
