I have a smoke detector that is giving me grief.

The friggin thing chirps every night between 12-1am almost daily. Scares the poor Yorkie too death.

It is hard wired and has a battery back-up. I've replaced the batteries a few times with new batteries from different locations.

Anyone have a clue?

AC kicks in stirs the dust BEEP, BEEP. :)

Last year I called the Kidde factory for a similar issue: random chirps, false alrams etc.

They sent a new replacement model, hard-wired unit with battery backup, no questions asked, and the problem was solved.

Replace it and the batteries in the rest of the system (assuming it is interconnected) and be done with it. Cost of repairs? $20
Price of a good nights sleep? Priceless.:)

If the Yorkie is still alive, then it is not working. Try another smoke detector. :)

Could it be due to age (the detectors)? As a rule the sensors last about ten years. I do not know if it causes your problem (with the detector).

Its not even 3 yrs. old.

I'm one of those you has to investigate why it is defective before going out to buy another one.

I totally agree! A real dog isn't that expensive. You might even find a good one at the pound. My "son" Dudley, for instance...
