Could somebody please help me in locating the section in the code 2006 IPC that states that slip joint connections need to be accessable.

From the 2006 IPC. (underlining is mine)
- 405.8 Slip joint connections. Slip joints shall be made with an approved elastomeric gasket and shall only be installed on the trap outlet, trap inlet and within the trap seal. Fixtures with concealed slip-joint connections shall be provided with an access panel or utility space at least 12 inches (305 mm) in its smallest dimension or other approved arrangement so as to provide access to the slip joint connections for inspection and repair.

From the 2006 IRC. (same wording as in the IPC)

- P2704.1 General. Slip joints shall be made with an approved elastomeric gasket and shall be installed only on the trap outlet, trap inlet and within the trap seal. Fixtures with concealed slip-joint connections shall be provided with an access panel or utility space at least 12 inches (305 mm) in its smallest dimension or other approved arrangement so as to provide access to the slip connections for inspection and repair.

Jerry I knew I could count on you for a code reference. Thanks. I had a plumber use slip joints on the first and second floor bathtubs and he was wanting to argue that he uses them in every other city and has been using them for however long. I told him that they are allowed; they just need to be accessable. Of course he wanted to argue was wanting to know what code book that was in because he has never heard of such a thing.

Gotta love it!!!
