The 70's called and they want their kitchen back.

How could one eat in this kitchen?

Rick,

Is that for real? Not photoshopped? Is this from something you inspected yesterday?

OMG!

I see something like that most nights, but only after a decent bottle of French Burgundy.
Seriously, that's what you get when you hire a decorator from Home Depot.

You can bet that the listing agent is calling it Country French in the brochure!

That is not a real 70s kitchen, no "Spoon, Fork and Ladle" hanging on the wall.:)

Shagadelic. Yeah baby!

I did a 1975 home yesterday. I swear I felt like I entered some type of time chamber. There wasnt anything in the home that had been upgraded or remodeled. Strangely enough, those hideous green and brown bathroom fixtures seem to be making kind of a comeback. Kind of that Starbucks looking color thing.

I guess for the appliances, its testament to the fact that some of them were pretty well made to have lasted this long.

That green color was known as "Avocado" and the yellow was "Harvest Gold".

I knew there was something oddly familiar with how busy that kitchen was. And, sure enough, if you look closely at the plant at the far end of the countertop...!

It looks like there is a significant collection of crosses, perhaps for performing exorcisms.

There aren't sunglasses dark enough for me to go in there......

That sorta reminds me of a project I did as a super back in the 80's.
We did AT&T headquarters in Liberty Corners NJ. The wallpaper that they chose for the bathrooms had a funky design. All I heard was it gave people headaches. Talking to AT&T project manager, that was the plan, get the people out of the bathrooms and back to work.
Was he pulling my leg; don't know. But when I used the facilities, I didn't spend much time in there.

Below are pictures from last Thursdays inspection. 1956 home. The hall bathroom was green. The other bathroom was pink.

Well, how the hell was I supposed to know who the house belonged to?

I didn't know Bob was from Kentucky and he wasn't home at the time of inspection!

But you gotta love the log ceiling joists and the barn wood door.

Here's some log floor joists for ya!

And while we're at it, a barn wood bed frame and a barn wood whatchamacallit for sitting a TV on. Both handmade by the lady that owned the log cabin.

Cabin went back to the late 1700's instead of the 70's.

And we can't forget the stone and clay chinking between the logs.

Some days, this is a REALLY fun job.

All it needed was a Corn Shuck Mattress & Pine Needle Pillows. :D

Wouldn't laugh too hard about the decorating, retro is in. In fact, they are producing appliances and furniture with the 50's / 60's looks and colors. Then again, if you're doing mid 70's...............lets let disco die
