don't we need a trap at all condensate drains?

The pump is considered the trap. I would recommend the lines be run separate for drain lines, I can not tell if the shut off is wired for the pump, so that it will turn the furnace and A/C off if the pump stops working if this is in a living space.

Yes.

I've never seen a condensate pump installed such that it meets the requirements of a trap.

There should be a trap between the AHU and the condensate pump.

We always putt a trap before the condensate pump. that setup in the picture will stink up the house during the heating season. this is why you should put it there

Your exactly right and if you look at the picture how is that pump set up going to keep out any odors? JMHO
