Nolan, I plan to attend but the meeting agenda is quite long. My eyes may glass over and I leave early but I'll post what I know, hopefully mid-afternoon on Monday, on my company blog at Capital City Inspection's Blog .

    Mike,

Thanks for the notes. I had planned on attending but ended up caring for my wife who is down with the strep throat

Are you serious about the high fives and blown kisses?

Good to see that one commisioner thinks that the real estate agents are now responsible for making sure inspectors use the new rules and forms.

I think I would be more concerned that one certain commissioner was "not that smart" than I would be with the inspectors who are taking the exams. Too bad they don't have an exam for commissioners.

    Wow.

    Eric

Eric, sorry to hear that your wife is under the weather. Here's hoping she recuperates quickly.

Yes, I was shocked and awed by several of the Commissioners actions and comments. Commissioner Arriaga has seemingly been a 'friend' of inspectors up until recently. He is the new chair for the TREC Education Sub-Committee that is chartered with proposing changes to how TREC handles Core and CE training for RE Agents as well as Inspectors. Hopefully he will soon understand that the problem is not necessarily 'not smart' applicants but rather the poor curriculum offered to them. The schools need to be able to coordinate and teach what the applicants will be tested on. Another Commissioner pointed out to Arriaga that RE Agents have approximately the same exam failure rate although I'm not sure I agree with that. I'll have to go research that statement some.
