Separate Section For Each State?
Hi,
Would you prefer separate sections to discuss individual state related issues?
Good: It would provide organization if you wanted to follow the progress of an individual state.
Bad: I think there would be a lot missed because people outside of their own state probably would not read all that is posted in other state. I think there is a lot to be learned by keeping up with all state.
Please vote for your preference and post any input you may have.

Maybe by region, but I think individaul states would be redundant.

Re: Separate Section For Each State?
Also NO on 50 separate sections but ,how about just having a section labeled "State and Region Specific Issues"? Then ask the initial posters to include the state or region along with the topic in the thread title. That way, we all get to see the headings and can go there if the topic might be of interest, even outside of our own state.

Re: Separate Section For Each State?
Lets face facts here the trickery & treachery being bandied about as licensing legislation all has the same stink attached to it regardless of what state it is being pushed in, I vote leave it all in one slop bucket.

Re: Separate Section For Each State?
I like the idea of having a seperate heading stating region/state. The idea of having one post what state they are talking about and the topic so everyone can watch for both topic issues and state issues.

Re: Separate Section For Each State?
Scott,
That's actually a myth. The Mason-Dixon line included Deleware as part of the union... in-other-words, the line jogged down from 15 miles south of Philadelphia to entend down to the bottom of Deleware.

Scott,
Notice it stops at West Virginia. So are you below or diagonal?

I agree with Richard Moore - No, with a reference to a state bucket of some type.

Re: Separate Section For Each State?
No on 50 individual states.
How about dividing it up politically? Red states and Blue states.

Re: Separate Section For Each State?
No, separate sections for each state would be too much to look at. I have learned quite a lot reading posts from Inspectors in other parts of the country (and Canada). Event though there are state-specific issues relating to licensing, etc. (particulraly here in NC!!!!) these can be discussed on the main board. Inspectors in other parts of the country can get maybe some different perspective and share ideas on how to deal with some of these issues.
Brian, I love the new message board. Hey, I am only 56 posts behind Jerry now!

I say leave it as it is. If you change it I would miss out on Joe's disgruntled efforts for License.

Nope. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Think of all the heads that wouldn't be messed with by Jerry P.

Re: Separate Section For Each State?
I think that we are all basically the same as the inspection and structures goes. Reverse polarity, notched joists, cracked heat exchanger, missing TPR extensions, faulty overhead door reversals, etc. are the same regardless of what state you live/inspect in.
There may be some differences for you TREC guys as well as the hurricane areas, but those can be covered if there were regional sections. I would be afraid that I might miss something on a post because I am not looking at each state.

It’s a well know fact that California and Florida have far and away the most knowledgeable real estate inspectors. I'd serve up just those 2 states because the rest are superfluous.

Re: Separate Section For Each State?
I vote Nay
We would all miss too many interesting posts....
There are many applications in the Homes here in CA. that are from other States...../ Regions........
I'd like to see things stay with topic related issues
plain and simple
If it applies,
learn from it

Re: Separate Section For Each State?
NO TO EACH STATE , but maybe there should be a licensed state legal and professional issues discussion?? That may help folks navigate some confusing points. Or not.
