Default I think you have nice hair.

Every now and then I get a request the following message from someone at LinkedIn:

"Can you please take a moment and leave me a quick professional rating here:"

Is this ridiculous? While in many forums while reading a persons posts you can get a pretty good idea about a person and may even feel comfortable offering an opinion; how can someone expect to get a written recommendation (professional rating) from an absolute complete stranger?

I've gotten about 6 of these requests so far and have responded to none. I've even tried to look at someone's profile, just to see if there is anything I can say (except I don't know this guy, and I think he is shady to ask a complete stranger for a reference). The only thing that I was able to find was that one guy had nice hair.

Its yet another form of Phishing/hack trolling. LinkedIn has a method to forward such to them from within the network while logged in, if you're so inclined. At the very least do not reply or respond.

I find LinkedIn to be a nuisance more than anything with the endless e-mails they send. They send me e-mails from people who want to be connected but when I click on the links, it says my e-mail address is not recognized. I don't believe I've ever received one inspection through LinkedIn and I never think to look at it if I need some service.

    Worthless.

That is why I have never registered with any of the "social networking sites" - I receive those same email invitations, but, because I am not a member, I have two choices: a) click the link and be asked to join; b) delete the emails without clicking the link ... I now just do b) and don't bother with a) anymore.

    Hi, All &

Some of you may want to learn more about social media; your choice to avoid it or embrace it...

I'm on LinkedIn to make good Connections and to grow my business.

It can be very strategic and worthwhile.

I must admit I knew almost nothing about this particular one until I began working with a brilliant LinkedIn Coach /strategist in the last year who changed my perspective completely.

Sometimes it is not easy to switch from being a follower (if you folks don't mind me using that term - for illustration purposes), to becoming a front-runner...

    Cheers !
