Curious as to why you are inquiring about an association which ceased to exist last year ... any particular reason?

    Hi Scott,
I'm writing a story about NAHI for a website and looking for someone who can comment on the collapse of NAHI. Do you have any insight into why the company folded?

I'm also trying to get in touch with Claude McGavic, but haven't heard from him.

Would be great to talk to someone who can tell me a bit about what exactly happened with NAHI.

    Thanks,

    NAHI did.

There was nothing for Nicky to "take over" ... NAHi no longer in existed.

    Lisa,

    R-e-a-d w-h-a-t I s-a-i-d v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y ... then (if you can) think about what you read.

They ceased to exist on their own ... did Nicky co-sign the dissolution papers? Not to my knowledge - NAHI ... did ... it ... on ... their ... own ...

See, what YOU still don't get is that Nicky cried to everyone who would listen about 'bad and worthless NAHI was', and now Nicky is trying to say that 'there was, and still is, "value" in NAHI'.

Take something which 'has no value' (according to Nicky)
    - no value (take it away from itself)
= no value (the result is still 'no value')

Now, if Nicky had been building up NAHI as having value over all the past years, then there may be some value left in its remains - Nicky did not - which means that Nicky shot himself in the foot ... i.e., his mouth runneth-over his brain ... he was aiming his gun at himself all those years, pulling the trigger now only shoots himself ... and one who already looks silly ends up looking even sillier (i.e., Nicky ends up with 'egg on his own face').

And you look sillier with each nonsensical post you make.

And ... is it you ... or is it Nicky ... or are you Nicky in disguise?

Nonsense. They had 1,200 due-paying members, $380,000 in the bank and provided even fewer membership benefits than ASHI does, and so had nearly no costs. They were a cash cow. They didn't just "cease to exist on their own."

I replied :" What website are you writing for??" at that point my inbox/saved was full, ergo the post and my reply "you can post here" .

I was and still am interested who Mitra is writing for, since I didn't want to go down a rabbit hole blind. Much less drag anyone else with me. I typically do not offer references or sources unless I have prior permission/understanding.

Definitely I would not interject someone into the Lisa-Nick-Internache spin machine that has taken place. Not knowing who or what Mitra is makes for hesitation and conjecture. Who knows, some marketing tool for nickie and loso maybe? Not beyond a possibility.

    Good afternoon,

My name is Chris Brooks, and I'm the founder of FurnaceCompare.com. Mitra is a freelance writer and she is writing an article that we commissioned for FurnaceCompare.

I'd like to address a couple of the questions that have been asked in this thread.

    >Definitely I would not interject someone into the Lisa-Nick-Internache spin machine that has
    >taken place. Not knowing who or what Mitra is makes for hesitation and conjecture. Who knows,
    >some marketing tool for nickie and loso maybe? Not beyond a possibility.

FurnaceCompare.com is an independent company, and we're in our 15th year of business. We have no affiliation with InterNACHI, NAHI, ASHI, or any other home inspection-related organization.

    >
Curious as to why you are inquiring about an association which ceased to exist last year ...
    >any particular reason?

Home inspectors are one of the groups of professionals that use the information that we publish on FurnaceCompare, and this seemed like a story that many of them would find interesting.

Mitra has interviewed Mr. Gromicko from InterNACHI as part of this story, as well as Frank Lesh from ASHI. She is looking to interview additional sources that have first-hand experience with parts of this story.

I would be happy to answer any other questions that you have.

    Thanks,
    Chris

Yea, right...writing an article about furnace's for a defunct organization?

This whole thing stinks from every angle. I'd recommend everyone stay away.

    Dom,

You got the information backwards - it is about a defunct organization for a company who compares furnaces for people.

Not sure how home inspectors use those comparisons (I looked over that site, good information for homeowners), but that site is legit, and its article is likely too - ask ASHI what Frank Lesh's take was ... that should clear up any concerns.

May very well be that it is all legit, it's just that the topic and one of the parties is so corrosive here.

ANYTHING involving Nick's company IN ANY WAY is suspect here as we have not drank his kool-aid ... it raises the hair on the back of our necks because he tries to control minds ... like at Jonestown ... and the more people who succumb to him and his thinking, the more suspect he becomes.

Took a look around you web site and seemed strange that you have scores of people that have posted questions and I found only 1 reply. Which I found interesting.

Your site appears to have been created to generate referrals/leads to contractors whom I assume support($) your site. I hope that it is not one that causes the referral to be bombarded with email from contractors and others using the email address obtained by you insistently for 6 or more months almost like a spam generator that you can not shake free from.

In my rumbling around your site I did not see anything that appeared to be where you would post an article such as you are wanting to create. Maybe I just missed it.

I didn't see much that a Home Inspector might readily use. But maybe I missed it.

It was interesting that you responded in Mitra's behalf rather than Mitra responding.

I will inquire of those I know if they have factual insight that they may desire to share with you at cbrooks@furnacecompare.com and you can put them in contact with Mitra.

Frankly there is a lot of skepticism with what has transpired to date and any connection to Nick Gromico and internachi, as can demonstrated by Dom D'Agostino's, Jerry P and other posts in the forum.

Best of luck though maybe something of beating the dead horse for him to say where he was going.

Doesn't say much for 19,000 of your fellow inspectors. I think your conspiracy theory about "mind control" makes you look stupid. Perhaps so many inspectors join InterNACHI and keep renewing year after year after year because InterNACHI makes them money and provides them with countless competitive advantages: Inspector Membership Benefits and Competitive Advantages - InterNACHI

    ASHI and NAHI don't.

Nothing to do with "mind control" over 19,000 professionals.

InterNACHI is just a smart business decision and the few non-members left in the world just aren't that smart IMHO. Either that or they just aren't businessmen. InterNACHI isn't a trade association of inspectors. It's a trade association of businessmen and women who just happen to be in the inspection business. If you don't understand the huge difference, you probably never will.

While I don't know all those inspectors (19,000 by your count), but I can tell you that the majority ... VAST MAJORITY of Nick's club members who I do know, have meet, and/or have read posts made by ... *I* would personally not want to mingle with them as they are more interested in the $, and the next $, than they are in learning what they should , and/or doing what should be done for their clients.

Guess I am just not cut out to fleece people and take their money without providing something of worth and value for it.

Did Nick ever pay that $15,000 fine/penalty/fee/whatever it was that Pennsylvania had levied against him for improper radon inspections/mitigation/whatever it was? Last I heard, he fled the state and never went back to take care of it - sure would erase a big black eye he gave himself if you could provide proof that Nick himself paid that and cleared it up,

The next step would be for Nick to turn his club over to his members and have no control or input into it ... you know ... like a REAL home inspector association is run.

Would be nice to publicly clear some of those outstanding black eye sore spots up once and for all.

I know he took the state of PA to court and got one of their directors fired. I don't think he paid anything but I only speak for InterNACHI. Perhaps he used "mind control" on the judge.

What would home inspectors know about running a 21 million dollar global trade association with operations all over the world, a 280,000-page interactive monster website, all while maintaining 1,400+ governmental approvals and accreditations? Different skill set, don't ya think? Can you explain your thinking there?

    Jerry,
As stated it has little to do with Home Inspection. Could have been hog farmers instead of HI.

It is about money and marketing in that order. Marketing is the ploy to get the money and lying, stealing and cheating are determined to be acceptable practices because it is just business in their mind and their perception.

A half truth is still a lie except in some of the marketing world perception.

Wrong. He took them to court. He was the plaintiff. No government agency ever took him to court. He's sued at least eight state agencies and two sitting governors over the years. Most recently he sued the Attorney General of the State Kentucky. He won a temporary injunction that protects home inspectors. https://www.nachi.org/documents2012/...%20et%20al.pdf

No more per inspection. More per client. We posted 3rd-party surveys showing this on InterNACHI's website.

They set the standard for success in their professions because they are the best......and they charge record sums for their services......when was the last time your fearless leader performed a fee paid home inspection for client? I know he hasn't performed any in my state, and he's licensed here.

If internachi inspectors don't command more money for their inspections......then I guess all of your foot stomping and self-proclamations about how great your association is are just hot air.....but I think most of us already knew that.

For those that are interested we published our article on NAHI yesterday. The article is here:

    Thanks, Chris

Thanks for the update, however this in itself explains a lot about an underlying deception and motives.

Quote from article - "In an email interview Nick Gromicko, founder and executive director of InterNACHI, said that NACHI had actually formed InterNACHI a year before NAHI sued them. However, they didn’t inform the NAHI of that: "We hid that from them so that they would spend hundreds of thousands in court. The plan worked. They wasted nearly $300K trying to get us to do something we were not only willing to do, but had actually done. We did this to help assure their demise," said Gromicko."

This whole thing is a coordinated "sham", the bias is so thin and transparent it's laughable.

    Thanks,
    Chris
Without being bias, although I do belong to InterNACHI, Lisa will hopefully answer your questions as an independent person, professional.

From what I have come to understand, mismanaging funds.

    Robert,

You are far from 'not being biased', and Lisa/Nick/whoever is likely the most biased person on the planet.

Your understanding comes from what you have been told by the manipulators who serve that kool-aid you keep drinking ... and I am not biased the opposite way ... yeah, right, sure ...

    Sheesh!

Robert, Without being bias, your post makes you look like an idiot. You have not ever demonstrated that you can comment on Lisa, Nick or your Association without being biased.

Trying to pass off such a bogus concept that "Lisa will hopefully answer your questions as an independent person, professional" is really a concept from another universe that only the believers can agree on. Really, "independent" and " "professional" conjoined and relating it to Lisa/Nick.

I really had hoped that this thread would have gone off into the oblivion. I was and still am skeptical of the supposed purpose of the article and those that may be involved behind the scenes.

I would like to see a link to that lawsuit. I can’t seem to find it.

Also, what is the position of “Director” in PA?
