Re: Nicks plan to put non NACHI members out of business
Being unemployed has never been a problem for me, and doubt it will in the future. Am, however, looking forward to semi retirement, I earned it, can afford it, eat your heart out!!
Quantity (100 page report) does not equal quality. I would suspect most customers are not going to want to wade through a "novel of a 100 page report.
To quote Joe Friday "the facts, just the facts"
A report should be concise and to the point, the rest is just fluff, in an effort to "make youself look good".
Or, it could be the need of 50 pages of disclaimers to cover what you missed?????

Re: Nicks plan to put non NACHI members out of business
WOW!
This thread sure has wandered...for the good...I think!
I have a summary page, actually, three pages, that has all the defects copied automatically from the report along with any notes.
There has never been a problem with anyone understanding the deficiencies in one of my reports. Especially now since I redesigned them this year.
As for Jerry's reports, I don't know if the sample he had was 100 pages. I do remember it was 4MB. I have it somewhere on my computer. My average report is 40 pages including pictures.
I don't think that it matters how many pages you have, as long as everyone understands what you are trying to say.
I know of one franchise that gives you a book. I think it is around 300 pages!

Re: Nicks plan to put non NACHI members out of business
Not to worry, Joe B., that 100 page report was a short report , I also included a summary of things which were not right ... everything which was not right was in the summary, it was not for me to pick and choose what *I* thought was small or big, it was up to my clients to pick and choose what *they* thought was small or big ... so it was all right there in the summary for them to pick and choose from.

Re: Nicks plan to put non NACHI members out of business
HI Guy's,
Now you got my attention. I have been reading these posts for several years now and joined not to long ago.. I am not a member of NACHI,
I was thinging of joining and think it is a pretty good Group. The problem I have is here in NE Michigan most of my Clients don't want there names given out. Also the Group that I work full time with as an Inspector and my own HI on the residental level on the side. I average about 5 -8 In spections a week covering 11 counties here up north year round. I alway's thought people could have there own opinians (Spelled wrong, sorry). So if you don't agree with them you have to try to put them out of Business ?????? Thanks for your time, and I'm not yelling.

Charlie......... post away, however, wherever and whenever you like. All notions of etiquette aside, I found your post enlightening and informative. You have also (unintentionally I'm sure) helped this thread to drift away from yet another possible peeing match.
I respect you for your honesty and passion regarding the association you belong to. I feel the same for anyone who does not need to resort to association bashing. If members of the association I belong to, or it's higher-ups feel the need to indulge in bashing other associations, thats something I cant control. All I can do is police myself.

Why bash associations when you can bash people?
Fwiw, news anchors use to have their scripts typed in caps and advertising scripts are usually typed in caps.
