Thread: Gas meter wire?

    Default Gas meter wire?

    Can anyone tell me if gas meters should be bonded or grounded? I often see a black wire wrapped around natural gas meters coming out of the ground.

    Here in Ky. they wrap a wire around the pipe so they can locate later with a detector when pipe is buried. Most pipe here is yellow heavy grade pvc. The steel pipe is connected to the pvc underground.
