Fiberglass insulation in attic
Typically with newer construction I don't see fiberglass bat insulation in the attic. What are your thoughts on this. Furthermore, is the rating valve R-3 per inch of fiberglass?

Re: Fiberglass insulation in attic
Fiberglass batt insulation is approximately R-3 per inch - provided ... that it is installed properly, cut to fit, not squished in sideway or in thickness, by anything, which includes NM cables, gas lines, etc.
That insulation in your photos does not appear as though it was installed "properly".

Re: Fiberglass insulation in attic
Properly installed and uncompressed fiberglass batt insulation offers an R value of roughly 3.14 per inch.
That wouldn't be the case for what is pictured.

Re: Fiberglass insulation in attic
I believe that some unfaced batts have the R value written on them. What are those numbers on the batts? Looks like thirty something.

Re: Fiberglass insulation in attic
I think is said R38, the insulation was 13 inches thick so that would be in the ball park. But the entire thing was a hack job
