Duct Hose in Soffet
Hi all;
I came across a 2" diameter duct hose sticking out of the soffet.
The attic area adjacent to this is for the most part inaccessible.
Its on a ranch style home, and the location is adjacent to a bathroom. The bathroom exhaust is correctly vented, using another outlet that is about 3 feet away from this duct hose.
Does anyone have any ideas what this duct it might be for?
Thanks

Re: Duct Hose in Soffet
Eric,
Judging from the scale of the soffit and the J/F channel, I believe that is a 3" vent. Is this is an older home? It could be an abandoned vent, from when they upgraded the exhaust fan.
It could be from another bath somewhere and they wanted to keep the terminations in the same area.
They can add the termination cap when they come back to finish the siding.

It could possibly be a fresh air intake for a fireplace.

Dryer located nearby? Looks like cheap plastic flex, maybe abandoned but the siders didn't know.

Re: Duct Hose in Soffet
Could be soffit ventilation for the attic since it doesn't appear the current soffit is perforated.

It could be where an electrical service mast has been removed and relocated.
