Default Cheek cuts in roof rafters

What is an appropriate wording for roof framing that looks like this. Take note of the cheek cuts on the rafters.

    "Amateur workmanship"

"Temporary structure" is a little harsh for that one, but it is that too.

The word "common" comes to mind... See it all the time in homes. Folks just do not know how to measure and cut.

Truth be known, it is not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things unless you are doing a framing inspection on new construction. I stopped telling my clients about those things many years back, unless I found a bunch of them in the home.

I agree. Such cuts do however make me look a little more closely for more significant framing errors.

MEASURE = TWICE, CUT = ONCE
