    Default Techshield failure

I found this in an attic in the Houston area this afternoon. I've never seen Techshield damaged in this way. The decking was dry to the touch so it doesn't seem to be a moisture problem. The Techshield was was actually brittle and crumbled when I touched the decking. Only small sections of the decking has this problem; not the entire attic.

Any ideas as to a cause? I could not see where any H clips were used.

Common failure of the radiant barrier covering of Techshield. Missing clips don't have anything to do with the barrier "sticking" to the decking.

    Generally is a manufacturing issue.

After I posted my question I did another search of Inspection News in the "Attic Areas" section and found several posts regarding this same question. Apparently this isn't as unusual as I thought.

    Thanks for the help Nolan!
