Default Large Antennae in Attic Space

I've only been inspecting for about a year and a half but I saw this large antennae in the attic, it looks much newer than anything else in the attic and I can't think of anything it could be hurting I was just wondering if an antennae would properly work in an attic, if so why doesn't every antennae go there? 100_3088.JPG

Outdoor antennas can be turned to achieve best reception. Not always possible in most attics.

I see it fairly often here. Not sure how well it works, but all of our signals only come from one place, so it may work just fine.

This sucker from a recent inspection must have been 15 feet long.

30 years from now , some new inspector will be posting the same photos asking the old timers, what is this thing and how should I report on it.

It's a TV antenna....and it will work just fine up there...provided it's pointed in the direction of the transmitting antenna. The other antenna shown in this 'thread' is also a big TV antenna. Del Webb started putting TV antennas inside the attic-spaces of their newly-built homes over 20 years ago (in Phoenix & Las Vegas), so they wouldn't clutter the roof. CC&R's in many developments prohibit exposed antenna's so this was the solution they came up with and it works just fine up there....although most people have long ago abandoned it for cable or satellite TV. I'm an FCC-licensed ham-radio station-operator and many hams who live in CC&R-controlled communities, install their ham-radio antenna's inside the attic of their home and then talk the world on it.
