Re: Micro Climate Roof
Other than what my opinion would be to designs flaws in the exterior of the home and garage type doors and massive amounts of glass, and, and, and not enough overhang in the southerly and westerly sid eof the roof to keep all that sun off the faces of the home....I think it is a great idea for the over roof.
Matter of fact he must have stolen that idea from me

Re: Micro Climate Roof
A roof over a roof, I have brought that up several times over the years, nothing new or fancy about that.
One of my simplest forms of it was to construct the house and roof sheathings, install modified single ply on it, then anchor 2x4s stacked on each other on top of the truss top chords, install new sheathing and then the final roof.
Would have a similar affect of what is shown. I think I even talked about that back on the ASHI board that many years ago when someone asked about a good way to ventilate a roof and make it last almost forever, and before that too.

Re: Micro Climate Roof
I use to have a hunting camp house with a double roof. It was a single wide trailer under a metal roof pole barn like structure. Actually it was an old hay barn that we pulled the trailer under. Worked great and last I heard it is still in use. Gee, I guess I was thinking green back in the early 90's! Actually I was trying to keep dry!

Re: Micro Climate Roof
Of course, building two structures would add to the carbon footprint of the home and to global warming. Kind of self-defeating.

Re: Micro Climate Roof
Scott,
That is not really what they mean when they say a mobile home has a "roof over".

JP: Sure it is, though accidental and serendipitous.

Re: Micro Climate Roof
Jerry P., is a mobile home "roof over" anything like some of the follicly challenged among us that use a "comb over" to keep the sun off?
