Vinyl siding and receptacle
I'm about to start running some vinyl siding, and I'm not sure how to trim out the outside receptacle.
I have these cool siding blocks for electrical, but there is so little vinyl siding out here I don't have a good reference to check out. We are under the current electrical code.
What I was thinking was that you would cut out the back box so that the weather proof box would be flush with the trim plate. I can adjust the depth of the w/p box by using spacer pieces behind it to bring it out to the edge of the siding. I will have 1" of foam and then about 1" of siding on top of the wrap. You could mount the in-use cover directly to the outside of the trim plate and w/p box. Does anyone know how this is usually done to be in compliance?
Re: Vinyl siding and receptacle
Jim, the master mounts in the pics are typically used for mounting lights, receptacles are usually installed using a mini mount (at least that is what they are called around here).

Re: Vinyl siding and receptacle
So the box would go inside that one, fitting along the channel? That would work pretty easily as well. I have some split recessed for my hose bibs. Maybe I will see if they are the same format.

Yep, that's it.
Re: Vinyl siding and receptacle
they make a wide range of recepticle boxes for vinyl siding.
the one you show in the pictures is for surface mounting of wall lights.
they have electrical boxes that give you a recessed box for an outlet.
they even come with the outlet built in.
Also check out this site, it has an instalation manual for siding and accesories http://www.abtco.com/kp_abtco/docs/A...tructions_.pdf
