    John in SC, The Residential Construction Guideline declares 1" in 8' to be too much, but 15/16" in 8' is OK. You have to keep in mind that these guidelines are generally written by the builders themselves (in SC it's the HBA) so the tolerances seem to be leniet to say the least.
