strange pattern on bedroom wall
This is an interior portion of an exterior wall. The house is a 2001 that was foreclosed. The utilities had been turned off so no HVAC in humid weather plus flooding through sump pit in basement.
This patterning is on the 2nd floor bedroom IE: two floors above the basement. Not noticed anywhere else in the house. It was surface material but did not appear to be mold like.
Any idea what caused this?

Re: strange pattern on bedroom wall
Looks to me to have a wood grain pattern. Assuming this isn't a plywood wall or a glaze/faux paint treatment:
Wild guess: Dusty or dirty possibly damp door blank or plywood panel rested against the wall at some time. Perhaps the back of a piece of furniture (book case, high-boy, entertainment unit, headboard, etc.)
May also be a pattern from fabric or vinyl. Near a window? Perhaps a decorated bed (draped).
Red is a very unforgiving wall paint color, even the "ceramic" enhanced paints.

I'll bet that's where the kids humidifier stood against the wall.
Did you pray to it?

It is one of those "I do not know" moments! Never be ashamed or afraid of telling your client that you do not know what or why.
Did you put a moisture meter on it?
