Default Insulation in Garage & Interior Wall

First time I seen this. Fiberglass batt insulation with vapor barrier in wall between garage and house. The installer put some of the insulation with the vapor barrier on the garage wall (unheated) side and some on the interior (heated) wall side. The picture with one side of the garage access door is marked 'A'. The inside of the wall is a closet an enclosed void area in the corner of the closet. The side of the garage access door marked 'B' has the laundry room on the interior side of the wall. Is there a practical reason for having the vapor barrier in the garage side of the wall in these areas?

    Nope.

Looks like they just did not understand how insulation is to be installed.

I ran into this one yesterday, apparently they figured the exterior wall didn't need insulation if it was hidden by the jacuzzi tub enclosure - or is this something was was permitted in 2001? That loose batting in the foreground was just laid in ther over the pump.

Not allowed, but frequently missed by the insulation company and the inspectors.
