    Default tread depth in 1985?

Anyone know when changes were made to interior stair tread depths over the decades? Found these funky stairs against a wall and the middle treads were fine but the other two sides had a depth of 7". I don't think this was common/allowed in the 80's as it would have been in much older houses. Of course, no handrails. Any input?

Give or take an inch probably isnt as big a deal as unequal tread depths among the tread would be. Unequal tread depths are a trip hazzard.
