I am curious what are some of the better inspection training programs availiable, besides reading on your own.

Mathew, I don't know your background,but any information you can get from people in the know such as this site is to me is the best way of gaining information about the bussisness. I've seen guys come around and know the code books (cover to cover) and are very knowledgeable;but put a screwdriver in thiere hand and you would be better off with a monkey...
