Question Re Dryer Vent / Exhaust Requirement
The first question is simply, is it required that a washer and dryer and connection have a vent / exhaust hookup for a W/D room located in the house?

I have someone telling me that it's not mandatory. All I've been able to find via searching is requirements for them but not if they are required to start with.

Thanks!

Re: Question Re Dryer Vent / Exhaust Requirement
Gavin,

Clothes dryers are required to be exhausted to the outdoors.

Unless ... you have one of those "ventless" dryers. There are some manufacturers who make a "ventless" condensing clothes dryer, however, they are few and far between.

If you have a "regular" clothes dryer, yes, it is required to be exhausted to the outdoors.

Re: Question Re Dryer Vent / Exhaust Requirement
Do yo mean a vent in the ceiling to vent warm moist air to the exterior or the dryer being vented itself.

I mean like we have a 'laundry room' with hookups which have the water supply / drain and plug for washer, and a 220v power for the dryer but no vent hole for the exhaust to be carried outdoors.

Try on IRC 2003 M1307.1 General. Installation of appliances shall conform to the conditions of their listing and label and the manufacturer's installation instructions.
