John A.
Does it have a Reverse, off the Sump pump for those pesky grease fires?

Re: handyman range vent
As hilarious as this thing is, it really is better than than those crappy recirculating fans that just blow the stuff back in your face. I have to give the guy credit for making the effort.

That's what happens when a plumbers wife asks for a new vent hood. I like it.

I'm sure you're right, but I can't figure out why.
Why is it worse?

Re: handyman range vent
John,
Because the recirculating ones will not melt down and spread a fire throughout the house like that PVC one will.
It could easily melt down without a fire, causing a restriction for the fan/blower motor, causing it to overheat and catch fire.
Or, a grease flame up on the range itself could set the PVC on fire.
And those are just the first ones which came to my mind.

Re: handyman range vent
I knew you were right. God, I'm smart.
I was just thinking in terms of actual venting, not the flammability of PVC, which, to be honest, I've never thought about.
Thanks.
