No Utilities? No Problem. "If I miss it I fix it."
I wonder if this inspector's logo is a bull's eye that he wears on his back. His web url is www.ifimissitifixit.com .

Home Inspections Without Utilities Now Available in Southern California.
Guaranteed Home Inspections carries power, water and gas to every job just in case utilities have been shut off.
Riverside County, CA 22-Jan-2010 — Home buyers and real estate agents can no longer depend on utilities being on when they go to do a home inspection. Guaranteed Home Inspections guarantees that utilities will be available by bringing them to every inspection. Now a home inspection can be done thoroughly with utilities off. Go to www.ifimissitifixit.com for more information.
An example of the value of this service is an inspection scheduled by [a homebuyer] for a home in Northridge, CA. The agent, buyer and inspector each drove for over an hour in traffic to get to the house. Upon arrival it was discovered that the Gas Company had locked off the gas to the house. Since GHI carries natural gas in the van it was quick and easy to connect it to the house gas lines, light the water heater and test the kitchen appliances and central forced air heater. The inspection was a success and did not need to be rescheduled.
Not only does Guaranteed Home Inspections guarantee utility availability, every inspection is guaranteed as well. GHI actually agrees to pay to have any material defect (as defined by CREIA, the California Real Estate Inspection Association) fixed that is not put in the inspection report. See the web site for all the details.
About Guaranteed Home Inspections: [the home inspector], the owner and chief inspector, got his license as an Inspector of Properties from the State of Nevada in 2002. He has since been certified by NACHI ( International Association of Certified Home Inspectors (InterNACHI))

Are times that desperate out there? I'm guessing he has plenty of exclusions to cover himself. I would look for other work, if I had to resort to such gimmicks. Was anyone able to open his report beyond just the cover page picture?

I would think the potential liability for that is truly breathtaking, and I doubt that you could insure over it.

I'm not sure how it is in the rest of the world but here in Minneapolis / St Paul he'd have to have a permit to mess with the gas pipes and be licensed by the city as either a plumber or pipefitter.

Yea, I wonder if he carries insurance. I talked with an insurance agent about this a while back and he thought this would render the business non-insurable.
Funny, he lists himself as certified by the American Association of Home Inspectors, although here:
AAHI Membership by State - California
He is not listed...
So I checked ASHI here:
Find an inspector results | ASHI, American Society of Home Inspectors
Not listed...
His email goes to invisco, which makes whole house fans.
