TEXAS HIs - Goofy TREC Requirement for AFCI deficiency in report
The inspector shall report as Deficient: (17) the lack of arc-fault circuit interrupting devices serving family rooms, dining rooms, living rooms, parlors, libraries, dens, bedrooms, sunrooms, recreations rooms, closets, hallways, or similar rooms or areas;
Since 95% of the homes I inspect are older, AFCIs werent even used or required when they were built. Why couldnt they at least specify a year when they were required, and not make you write it up as deficient and have to explain it to your clients?

So true.
I have a short paragraph about AFCI's and the check box for deficient checked by default. If I ever find one house totally compliant, I'll delete it. I think they went overboard with this one since very few if any municipalities have adopted the newest requirements.
