    Default Ground driven rod in the living room ?

    OK... Inspected a 1925 home today. the old guy was a home grown sparky... This house had more wires and out lets then i could count.

    But when I walk into the living room. well see the photo...

    and then another in the kitchen...

    Wel, he's not the first to be confused as to the purposes of 'grounding.' Connect the two rods in some way, tie them to the service neutral, and they'll actually do some good.

    Two-wire ungrounded electrical system, he did that so he could "ground" the grounding-type receptacles.

    Mind you, I did not say he did it right, only that was his reason.
