Rockin shower
This is a first, a speaker in the shower. Not just any shower, a steam shower. Other then the obvious problems, are there an specific rules which prohibit this.

Re: Rockin shower
As long as it is not a 70 volt speaker system then the speaker should not be a safety hazard. I would look to see if the box behind the speaker is waterproof or is it just up into the attic with no waterproofing installed. In my opinion the speaker enclosure should be built just like the ceiling of the shower.

Re: Rockin shower
You can get outdoor speakers (assuming they used an outdoor speaker) from many manufacturers, not too many in the low voltage range. There are many in the 70 volt range, but as these are outdoor type they have all the features to isolate the 70 volt line from the housing. If you look through the code you will find that the wiring for these devices is to be treated as "High Voltage" and should be rated and installed as such-----as an example can't be run in the same conduit as "Low Voltage" cabling.
As previously noted, need to check and see if a proper housing was installed and if the speaker is rated for installation in a high moisture location.
