    Bare, live K&T wire right at the attic entrance.

    The same wire is covered with insulation (just past the knob).

    Wow, right at the attic entrance. How easy it would be to grab that joist on the way up.

    Yep, all those boxes which were stored in the attic ... worn the insulation right off that conductor as the insulation deteriorated, fortunately there were no metallic foil boxes laying on it ... might have been a rather "enlightening" experience if there had been.

    I have changed out the photos in the original post to higher resolution as requested and added two more.

    Yes, live knob and tube. I did know I had live K&T before I opened the attic hatch but did not expect it right there and naked as a Jaybird.
