    Default No main electrical disconnect located outside!

    I could not find an outside electrical main disconnect breaker today just a meter. I opened the inside panel box and this is what i found! Why would anybody do this?

    your pic is very out of focus, but it looks like an FPE panel with a split buss. The top can have 6 throws and that serves as the disconnecting means. There doesn't have to be a main outside unless the locals have modified the codes.

    That was done in a factory. I agree that it looks typical of a split bus panel arrangement. A larger view of the panel would help.

    All answers based on unamended National Electrical codes.
