Take your best guess - 15 amp breaker with #4 copper.

The stove was previously an electric unit but was changed out to a gas unit.

o.k.-- now I got it...
The wife's plug-in "toy" was previously so big it required a 220 receptacle. They went to a battery 'toy' and now they can power another refrigerator...

Okay. Used to have an electric range and oven. Converted to gas. One leg of the 220V is folded up out of the way, but still in the panel. The other end of the #4 is pigtailed to a piece of #14. A new 110V receptacle is laying on the floor behind the gas range where an extension cord runs up to the new light over the gas range. A clip on switch is snapped into the extension cord.
What did Rich win?

Was the breaker rated for a wire that big?
looks like it is only rated for 14-10 AWG

I saw something similar a few months ago. They was a 150 breaker in the service panel that used to feed a 240 volt electric furnace in the crawlspace. They had taken one wire off of the 150 breaker and made it a neutral so they could have 110 volts for the newly installed gas furnace. They installed a 20 amp single pole breaker for the gas furnace in the old electric furnace panel. I wrote up what I saw but it looked ok to me.
