Height of light fixtures
Exterior light at front door is a pendant light which hangs 7 feet above the porch. Is this okay?

Re: Height of light fixtures
It does meet the minimum headroom of 7 feet.

How far does it hang down from the ceiling?

Re: Height of light fixtures
Thanks Jerry for the response...

I'd say it hangs about least 6 feet.

That's what I was wondering ... every time I found one like hanging like that I always pointed out that in strong winds that could blow into the wall, window, etc., so it needs to be tied off to the wall/columns/etc. to keep it from blowing around.

You would be surprised how many builders never thought about that - until one blows around and breaks out a large high window (which was not required to be safety glass, so it fall is huge fragments). Then builders and clients pay attention, tie the light off, AND replace the glass with safety glass for safety.
